Beware!
We received notification from NEA Member Benefits this morning that some Horace Mann clients are receiving a letter from a company called "Horace Solutions" (or something similar to that) and a check from Horace Mann. This is a SCAM.
The letter states that the person was chosen to be a "secret shopper" and one of the places they need to "shop" at is a Western Union or similar wire transfer business. The letter then instructs them to cash/deposit the check into their account and wire around $3,500 of it to an address given to them and rate their experience. Again, this is a SCAM!
Horace Mann agents have been advised about this. They have been asked to let their clients know this is a scam and to obtain a copy of the letter if possible.
Under NO circumstances should anyone attempt to cash the check.
Horace Man is working with their bank and appropriate authorities, but please try to inform your MNEA members, who may be Horace Mann clients, about this scan. If they receive a letter, they should contact their Horace Mann representative..
Thanks.

Update on the election:
We were able through our efforts on behalf of our supported candidates to get two of our three candidates elected. Congratulations to Jonathan Askins and Gilda Hester.
A big thanks to those members who got active in supporting the candidates.
Get Involved!
RGNEA Members,
I've been asked to forward this information below to the membership from the superintendents office. They are looking for members to serve on various district level committees. I encourage the membership to be involved in these committees as it gives the members a voice in the way the district is running. The original email came from Dr. White's office. Please respond to Dr. White and I as I want to keep make sure we have involvement of the association in each committee.
Thanks for your help.
Richard Thies
RGNEA President
